Method Validation

To assure a high data quality it is necessary to validate lipidomic methods – validation should evaluate the following criteria – these data should also be reported:

• Reproducibility within and from batch to batch
• Accuracy within and from batch to batch
• Reproducibility and accuracy for lipid species should be analyzed using the samples subjected to analysis; applicable are either pooled samples or preferred individual samples at different concentration levels.
• It is not sufficient to evaluate reproducibility and accuracy with standard-mixtures
• Limit of detection
• Linear dynamic range
• Sample carry over
• Stability of samples including preanalytics
